The works reference the phenomena of Ecological Succession and Ecological Continuity. Ecological Succession is one of the first theories advanced in ecology studies, which describes the recovery or change of habitat after a great disturbance like landslides, volcanic action, or fire. Ecological Continuity references expansive woodlands of uninterrupted presence where high levels of biodiversity can be found.
